Position: Project Associate (12 months Service contract, renewable)
This is a contractual position for an initial duration of 12 months, eligible for extension or permanent absorption based on performance and program’s requirements.
Location Base: Bangalore or Karnataka District headquarters (Chitradurga, Tumkuru)

S3IDF India is looking to recruit 2(Two) dynamic individuals to implement its Famer Producer Organisation (FPO) support ecosystem incubation in the Chitradurga and Tumukuru districts. This is a project that is supported by NABARD for a period of three years. This is a full-time fieldwork assignment and this position will be under the direct supervision of a Manager and will ensure effective project implementation consistent with S3IDF rules and regulations. The position will work collaboratively with all team members but most closely with the Chief Program Officer (CPO) or the Manager. S/he will work in a fast-changing and dynamic environment with multiple priorities and pressing demands. The Project Associate will be located in Chitradurga and/or Tumkuru with regular travel to field locations. Travel to S3IDF India office in Bengaluru may arise as required. The role requires a good understanding of the local area, agricultural practices, crop patterns and interacting with the FPO officials at regular intervals. This role needs to execute the instructions given by the Chief Program Officer of S3IDF. Regular feedback from the field, understanding agri -market dynamics, interacting with farmer members, understanding local Agriculture Produce Market Committee (APMC) operations, looking out for local low-cost technologies, liaising with local bank officials are needed in this job.
Candidates should be preferably from Chitradurga or Tumkuru, but candidates from other districts of Karnataka who are willing to relocate here can also apply. Knowledge of Kannada (reading, speaking, writing) is mandatory. Basic English proficiency is needed. Any other language knowledge, including Hindi, will be an added advantage.
Education, Skillsets and Other Requirements:
- Graduate degree/diploma, preferably in Agricultural Sciences. However, candidates with any from any social science background can also apply.
- The ability to comprehend local livelihood issues and the social entrepreneurship ecosystem is a must.
- Basic computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, PPT) and basic email correspondence in English is required.
- Both men and women candidates are welcome to apply.
- Local references will be needed before being finally offered the position.
- Extensive field travel in the district will be required (at least 20 days per month).
- High level of personal confidence, ability to work independently, learning from mistakes, identifying problems and excellent relationship building are crucial for the job.
Work Experience: Minimum 2 to 5 years of experience, some preferably in agricultural livelihood development for rural/urban poor. Working knowledge of FPO’s will be a distinct advantage.
Salary: Rs 23000/- per month. Plus, benefits and travel reimbursements.
